Where do I indicate the specific scholarship for which I am applying?
You don’t! Your general Anacortes Schools Foundation scholarship application will be used to consider you for most ASF scholarships. If you are interested in, and eligible for, the Greg Horak Memorial Scholarship, the Lynn Dragovich Memorial Scholarship, or the Friends of the Forest Scholarship, you should submit a separate application for each of these awards.
I am a current college student. What do I do about SAT/ACT scores?
If you are a college student, (or an adult returning to school) your SAT and/or ACT score reports are optional. You may submit them if you wish, but they are not required.
I am a current college student at a school using the quarter system. The application says I should submit my 1st semester grades. What transcripts should I submit?
You should submit all transcripts that are available by the April 1st deadline. For most students, Winter Quarter transcripts will be available by April 1.
I don’t have an EFC from FAFSA. What should I do?
We are aware that some students are not eligible to apply for, or know will not qualify for, federal financial aid and do not apply. Other students attend private school which requires College Board’s CSS Profile, rather than FAFSA, to calculate the expected family contribution. If you do not have a FAFSA EFC for any reason, please explain your circumstances in the supporting information statement referred to in question #7 on the Anacortes Schools Foundation or the Friends of the Forest applications.
Should I include required fees along with the tuition amount in my application?
Yes, as long as the fees are required for registration and attendance at your college. Optional fees (for the recreation center or ASB activities, for instance) should not be reported.
How long should my personal statement/essay be?
There is no limit. The selection committee will read your entire essay, regardless of length.
Do I have to include a supporting information statement?
No, as indicated on the application, that is a completely optional document. If you wish to submit such a statement, you may use the space to explain any pertinent information that doesn’t fit with the theme of your essay or why you are not able to include all of the required documents (non-traditional or vocational school students, for instance).
I notice the Greg Horak Memorial and Lynn Dragovich Memorial scholarship applications are much shorter than the Anacortes Schools Foundation and Friends of the Forest applications. Should I submit my EFC number or my SAT scores with those applications?
Please submit only the documents that are requested for each application.
There is not enough room for all my musical achievements on the Lynn Dragovich Memorial Scholarship application. What should I do?

Can I submit my application materials in a binder or folder?
Your entire application will be copied for review by multiple selection committee members. Please do not submit your application in any kind of binder or folder; it only creates extra work on our part and no selection committee members will see your binder or folder.
I really want to submit examples of my art work or photos of other projects. Can I do so?
No. Please only submit the requested documents with your application. Additional materials can’t be copied or distributed to the selection committee.
How will I know if I am selected to receive a scholarship?
Students who are selected to receive a scholarship will receive an award letter and ceremony invitation in early May.
Can I turn in my application late?
Unfortunately, we are only able to accept on-time and complete applications for consideration.
I received an ASF scholarship. How can I thank the donors?
