The behind the scenes work is truly astonishing: businesses and individuals generously donate original, creative and popular auction items; organizations and businesses sponsor our event so that we can concentrate on raising as much as possible to go back into school programs; students are busy helping us make inspiring decorations; and committee members give countless hours planning and preparing to make our event a magical and UNIQUE experience.

As we contemplated our theme this year, the idea of a child’s uniqueness kept rising to the top. Every child is special and has an individual journey through our schools, just as every snowflake is unique, traveling through the atmosphere. By funding a variety of programs and fieldtrips, ASF fosters that uniqueness, exposing students to experiences in the arts, STEM, and CTE that they can’t get in their day to day classroom settings.

We also help celebrate a student’s uniqueness by funding mental health supports. When students have a sense of belonging and have access to resources, they are much more likely to succeed in their academic learning.

This month also reminds us to be grateful. For our veterans, for our families, for our surroundings. At ASF, we are most grateful for you, our donors. You make it possible for teachers to inspire students through rich hands-on learning and real world experiences. Thank you.
