Gala Fundraiser Dinner

The “Celebrate the Season” 2021 Committee is excited to welcome guests back in-person to our Gala Dinner and Auction at the Port of Anacortes on Saturday, December 4.

As a leader in the community and a champion of schools, the Anacortes Schools Foundation is asking all guests to attest that they are vaccinated when purchasing tickets to Celebrate the Season. We hope this will prevent delays when checking in for your table. Much like a restaurant reservation, guests will be asked to wear a mask when not seated and will only be sitting with people that they asked to share a table with. We have reduced seating capacity from 250 to 150 guests.

Hybrid Event

We know that some of our supporters may not feel comfortable attending in person. That is why we are also offering a way for people to participate virtually.

We are very excited to be hosting our first ever hybrid event. Last year’s virtual auction was such a wonderful way to connect with the community that we are planning to keep the silent auction virtual (no baskets to see at the Transit Shed). We are also planning to broadcast the gala so that our virtual guests can participate in the live auction, Raise the Paddle, and school district performances from 7 to 8:30.

Table Reservations

Table reservations will be handled much like a restaurant.

We have reduced capacity at the Port from 250 to 150 guests to allow for social distancing. This allows us to offer a variety of table sizes with plenty of space between tables. Please let us know who you plan to sit with when you register. We are happy to accommodate smaller tables of 2, 3 or 4 and larger parties up to 10.

Instead of waiting in a long check-in line, hosts will greet you at the entrance and bring you straight to your table, where you will find your programs and bidder numbers as well as complimentary beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages and appetizers.

Everyone will have already pre-registered online, so there will not be a registration table for check in or check out this year. When purchasing tickets to the in-person Gala, all guests will be asked to attest to being fully-vaccinated against COVID-19.

Please try to arrive at 6pm as we have a fun and full evening planned. We will be broadcasting live from 7:00 to 8:30PM for our virtual guests. The silent auction is entirely online this year – it opens on November 24th and closes after the Gala at 9:30PM Dec 4th.

Appetizers, wine, beer, and nonalcoholic beverages will be at your table upon arrival. You will be assigned an ASF volunteer who will bring unlimited additional beer and wine at no charge and as requested.

Virtual Silent Auction

All in-person and online guests will have access to the online silent auction which opens November 24th and closes after the Gala ends on Dec. 4th. We encourage Gala guests to keep their phone out during the in-person event if they are bidding on silent auction items. The silent auction will close promptly at 9:30PM. Items will not be at the Port but can be viewed online and will be delivered to the winning bidder at a later date.

Cancellation

We will remain flexible in order to comply with state and county mandates. Because of the unknown, we are offering a full refund to the Gala Fundraiser if requested on or before Nov. 26th. Please direct any questions to Marta McClintock at (360)488-2343 or marta@asfkids.org.

Your support for "Celebrate the Season" is especially critical this year!

ASF continues to support scholarships, early learning, enrichment for STEM (including field trips and hands-on classroom experiences), the arts, vocational, career and technical programs, Impact and other summer learning and more. However, our top priority for the 2021-22 school year is to provide:

Mental health support for kindergarten through 12th grade

Beyond access and quality of instruction, we know students must be in a physical and emotional state that enables them to learn. The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on families, leaving many children in precarious situations and worsening a growing student mental health crisis. Untreated or inadequately treated mental illness can lead to high rates of school dropout, unemployment, substance abuse, arrest, incarceration and early death. In fact, suicide is the second leading cause of death for youth ages 10-19.

Recent studies also indicate that 1 in 6 youth have a mental health condition, such as anxiety or depression, but only half receive any mental health services. Since children spend much of their productive time in educational settings, schools offer a unique opportunity for early identification, prevention, and interventions that serve students where they already are. Early treatment is effective and can help young people stay in school and on track to achieving their life goals. In fact, the earlier the treatment, the better the outcomes and lower the costs.

That is why ASF is working to ensure our students get the support they need by funding the following over the next three years:

  • K-5 - social worker who will serve all 3 elementary schools
  • AMS – social worker 1/2 paid for by ASF and 1/2 paid for by Skagit County
  • AHS – additional staff member to assist AHS counselors
  • STEM Enrichment programs
  • Continued funding for social emotional programs including RULER, WEB, Character Strong and Signs of Suicide

We need your help to raise money to support three-year grant funding for these four priorities which support ALL ASD students.
