This scholarship is awarded annually to a student attending Skagit Valley College.
Philip L. Roberts was a retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer in aviation electronics. He attended United States Navy schools at Oklahoma A&M and Columbia University in New York, and served during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. He served U.S. Navy missions in Lima, Peru; the U.S. Naval attaché offices in New Delhi, India; Japan, Korea and many bases in the United States. In 1947, he was assigned to a squadron at Whidbey Island, found Anacortes and called it home, no matter where he was traveling. Mr. Roberts retired after 24 years of service in 1966. This scholarship was established in his honor by his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Roberts.
